Pan plays the pipes of 'Come-to-me-come-to-me.'
Airy and lively, the tune nimbly dances
over hillocks and hollows embellishing its call
to eager ears on May Day Eve.
Its notes skipping through leaf and branch
are distantly heard by lingering lasses
drawing them lightly into Beltane Wood.
Men of mettle, dressed in Green
await night's beckoning rite
as the Lady assures earth's new growth,
flames of passion to ignite
as Pan plays his pipes.
