BIRTHING
The seed snuggles into the dark earth,
friable from frost of winter past,
where stillness is cracked by awakening silence.
Earth, rich with discards and receptive to new life,
becomes the cradle of intention,
supports fully the about-to-be.
From fertile soil the seed pushes forth
by thrusting deep, seeking life blood
to breach invisible barriers
that separate darkness from light,
passive from active,
hopes from happenings.
Into the light it comes,
cell by cell, breath by breath
embracing the unknown,
adjusting form
to make spirit manifest.
