SPRING EQUINOX
The Earth, she turns a quarter point,
to equal night and day,
where the light is mastering darkness,
and Spring is on her way.
To an awakening of great, potential life,
on all plains and every land,
balancing life over the entire world,
to mountain, sea and sand.
With the Sun's active energy at day,
equals that of the moon at night,
both forever powerful
illuminating light.
Here comes the fertile Spring maiden,
and Ostara, goddess of light to bare,
fruits full of sensuous promise,
for all of nature to share.
And Pan; and Herne thrust forth the masculine too,
to envelope the feminine powers,
with magic of fire sun to kiss the rain,
to form the April showers.
Oestre's eggs reflect in layers,
the worlds of you and me,
the darker; our inner aspect,
the outer; light as can be.
The Spring dragon walks her pathway,
on determined earthly lines,
and snake's and serpent's journies,
twist and intertwines.
Through Nettle, Hysop and Cleaver,
and Ash and Alder bare,
running wild as energy grows,
around as the mad march hare.
We tenderly nurture our conception,
of stock in barns and byre,
to celebrate the chance of birth again,
and jump the dying embers of the Easter fire.
Blessed be,
Andrea Gibbons
