BECOMING ONE
The Ancients gather. Wisps of memory
draw them to the henge, the place of contact,
stone trilithons on the Wiltshire plains.
For them time remains uncounted.
The sun crowning the hele stone is their call
beckoning these guardians from without.
She joins them this year, welcomed to their realm.
As the newly departed, she draws close
to the megaliths, their magnetism
a potent force connecting earth and air,
stone strong anchors, bringing love from the past,
receptors, active with love in the present.
We stumble along, whether mother, son,
doctor, daughter, father, poet or priest.
We raise our hands to those who've gone before;
we give thanks for their presence, their wisdom;
give honour as we continue our lives;
say 'Fare thee well, until we meet again.'
