SPIRITS OF SAMHAIN

Like an elegant lady
with black chiffon draping her lissome body
(the two being as one),
spirits, as by osmosis,
enter the semi-permeable membrane of mind.
Spirits whose energies frequented the past
rub close again, nuzzle a memory,
like a cat slithering itself around legs,
demanding to be noticed.

Samhain, the veil draws thin in the dark of the year.
Space seeps open on both sides,
scope for spirit and the carnate.
'He reminds her he is sorry.'
'She tells him she has always loved him.'
The veil is rent.
The scar maintains its protective covering
while deep healing continues among soul and tissue.
